SURLY 1×1 ANNIVERSARY COMPLETE BIKE NO.002 by tempra cycle / kentaxxxxx on Flickr.
I haven’t posted anything about actually riding in a long time.
I have been on the bike quite a bit this winter and spring thanks to the mild weather. I’ve really reconnected with my love for riding and what it gives me. Although I have to say, the types of rides have not been the meandering, thought provoking rides that initiated this blog.
I finally decided that I needed to quit being a drain on my riding community, get stronger on the bike and see what would happen. The results have been pretty good. I’ve dropped about 40 pounds and seem to have made myself tougher than I used to be.
A lot of my rides are now early morning rides with lights and some friends that are pretty fast and challenge me so I don’t get to let my thoughts wander the way I have on the past but that’s been replaced to some degree by positive affirmation type thoughts about being able to hang with the group.
I can tell you that taking your share of pulls and leading the group up a climb rather than sitting on someone’s wheel and then falling off on the climbs makes you feel so much better about yourself.
In the mean time keep turning the pedals and keep the rubber side down.
Not exactly sure why, but this picture is so freakin sexy! Maybe it’s the bad ass looking sleeve offset by the lace, but regardless, it does things to me.
